I'm a mom who works from home!

What has worked best for me over the years has been an eclectic mix of income. I've worked full time and part time outside the home at times, and other times have exclusively worked from home. My first work from home job was in 1995 shortly after the birth of my first child. That job was executive assistant to the CEO of a manufacturing company. It was a virtual assistant position that included answering and returning phone calls, preparing correspondence, perparing travel arrangements, database upkeep etc. During that time I also created that company's first web site.

In the following years, I've held various telecommuting positions doing sales, marketing, virtual assistance, lead generation and customer service. Some have been direct employment while others have been as an independant contractor. All have given me the freedom to schedule my work time to fit my life.

I'm one of those people who tries to work in areas I really enjoy, so my hobbies turn into my profession and sometimes the profession is a hobby. When I'm not spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, performing in local community and professional theater, and taking pictures. I love saving money and finding interesting ways of making money. I clip coupons, do online surveys, shop the sales and always look for new ways to stretch that dollar. While trying to save money, I also spend time learning more and updating my skills to open up new opportunities. One thing I've learned is the more you know how to do, the less likely you are to be without income for a long time!
